The lavender field of Provence
I don’t have a lot to say about our time in Provence except I wanted to see the lavender fields. We did see them and I was not disappointed. I want to run back to Southern France every summer, simply to see the rows upon rows of purple.



We choose to see the fields by tour, but upon reflection, I think you could easily rent a car. Our poor little tour guide—I’m sure I was an annoyance. Every time he’d ask the question, “would you like to stop at this field?” My answer was always “YES!”



In addition to the main attraction (the lavender fields, of course) our tour also led us to the small French village, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie. The town is nestled between rocky cliff faces. The village also lies at the entrance to the Gorges du Verdon.



Our home base for our stint in Provence was the town of Aix-en-Provence. A cute town, home to lots of fountains, good eats, and cute shops. The one recommendation I’ll hand out is Weibel. A yummy little pastry shop, perfect for breakfast (or any time you feel the desire for a pastry).
